It's easy to take a shine to this upbeat but aggressive indie rock/emo/post-punk crashing band. Everything about this Wausau, WI (near Madison), four is big, bold, bright, and in-your-face, but so friendly about it. They're intense without the big show, they're melodic as a happy rule, they aren't without good-natured humor (one song is called "I'm a Bad Stalker," another "Cheer Up Emo Boy"), the arrangements are always fresh (good twinkling-ringing guitars as a sonic break in "George Lassos the Moon"), and singer Matt Loos has one of those earnest but strong voices that adds weight to his nice-guy songs about girls. Nicely following up their self-titled debut EP, this is more of the same, with hints of recognizable underground star bands (Superchunk, Promise Ring, Poster Children, early R.E.M., etc.), but with their own take.
